A stroll in the old city

Saturday was just the perfect day for a bike ride. Sunny and 22 degrees, almost felt like Spring was back again after a month of heavy rain. We love strolling around and discovering new and old part of the city, especially old and local neighbors, where people still look at you, as if you were coming from Mars (remember I mentioned in a previous post that if you are blond in China you’re some kind of celebrity?). We don’t know how long those local areas are going to survive, as the city is in a constant evolution, and traditional old houses are leaving place to new buildings, skyscrapers or shopping areas. We want to capture as much as we can while we are here, and have memories we can share to our grandchildren, or just friends who will visit the city in a year or so, and won’t probably find those things anymore. So we walked through laundry hanging outside, open kitchens, trotters, crow’s feet, steaming dumplings. Don’t worry… we did not eat any of the hanging meet you’ll see in the pictures, but we ended up our morning in K11 Mall Terrace, overlooking the most luxurious buildings and retail stores, eating sandwiches and pasta. Gosh, how much we love this city contrasts!
